Mister Maldives ♠

How exciting it is to have a governor candidate from California here in the Maldive Islands! And such a confident and friendly one at that! It was truly a privilege to be asked to contribute to this article as an international writer of Maldivian descent. Our island is 4 miles wide with 500,000 people so everybody is destined to run into somebody. But I never thought I'd run into an American politician! I was able to ride along in the taxi with Javen from the airport, and I sat in on the conversation with the driver about the plans for California and the brilliant ideas for improvement. The taxi driver spoke good English and asked about Arnold Schwarzenegger, the prior failed governor of California who conceded in his seventh year in office. We all laughed and the driver asked for a flyer to keep and show his wife. He said how proud she would be that her husband was driving around important people. Javen readily traded the flyer for a picture to commemorate the moment. It was an amazing start to a successful campaign filming event!
